Q: How does Spamagator work?
A: The Spamagator is designed to scan all inbound email and then utilize
a tagging process based on a heuristic system that will run various
tests. The test results will return a numeric value, or "spam score".
The higher the score, the more likely it is spam. The score each message
receives is placed directly into the header of the message. Any server
or e-mail client can then filter the messages based on your custom rules
preferences.
Q: How does Spamagator determine what is
spam and what is not?
A: The Spamagator analyzes each incoming email for a
wide variety of characteristics that are common to spam messages. Things
like keywords (Viagra, Mortgage, Enlargement, etc), graphical images,
computer code, and invalid header information are each assigned a point
value.
It then takes the point values for all the associated attributes and
adds them for a composite rating. If that rating exceeds a given
threshold, the message is marked as spam.
Q: What is the Spamagator?
A: The Spamagator is a virtual machine with a complete Linux server running a combination of Postfix, MailScanner, Spam
Assassin, and The Clam anti-virus engine. We have also included Webmin, which is a web-based tool for administration of the server. FrugalBrothers designed an easy to use console for easy setup, and other routine administrative tasks.
Q: Is the Spamagator a commercial anti-spam filter?
A: No, the Spamagator is based entirely on 100% open source software that is in use by universities, and governments all over the world. It is this very reason, that there are no annual subscription fees for the software.
Q: I thought Open Source software for Linux geeks and hobbyists.

Spamagator makes living with Linux very easy.
